Next Project

Well I settled on a new mg. I chose MG Spallow (or Sparrow). I really like the look of this model. The fact that it is so ninja is awesome. But the lone knife is a bummer but hey oh well. Picked it for 35 dollars. I will not post any current picks because I want the end product to be a surprise. I won't provide progress picks, aside from a few, because I am painting straight build and do not want to give away to surprise. But here are some picks I took today.

My mini break

Hey guys. Sorry for the lack of posts. These first couple of weeks of summer vacation have been hectic.  I've been running around and getting papers from schools so when I transfer everything is in order. Been gaining more gray hairs of late. Then there is the yard projects that have been going on. We've ripped up the grass surrounding the pool and layed stones there. But because the pool has curves we had to cut the stones. We aren't pros either so this was a pain in the ass. Then we put up a pergola which took a aweful amount of time for two people.  Also the weather has been pushing 100 degrees... in good news though I ordered MG Spallow. I think I will full ninja.

Finals

Sorry for the long wait in between posts. The last three weeks have been really draining and I just have not got around to applying decals or ordering another model. On the plus side I am finally done with most of my finals and only have one left tomorrow morning. The shop I order models from has yet to get the MG  Jesta in. By the time it comes in I might be swayed to wait for the MG Aile Strike Remaster. or just get the RG Destiny gundam. I do not know. The one thing I know for sure is that there is a bunch of anime to be caught up on! Till next time! Oh and I got a new =D the S4... it is awesome.

Anime Alert! Gargantia on the Verdurous Planet

http://www.pinoyanime.tv/images/gargantia-on-the-verdurous-planet.jpg
The Douche
Gargantia on the Verdurous Planet is a anime that how really caught my interest. I did not watch the first episode when it was released last week but I did catch up today. The anime is about a boy/young man, cannot really tell, who is from a space. He is a soldier who is fighting these weird space snail, butterflies, bugs. Humanity do not have a home to go to so they made a space home called Avalon. When fighting the creatures to boy, named Ledo, is overrun and is forced to retreat back through a wormhole.  But he gets attacked while in it and lands on a foreign planet who's natives speak a language he does not understand. Turns out it is earth he is on. Episode 1 was a good introduction episode. Set up some nice characters and displayed some nice art design. My only gripe about the show is the main character who is too angstty for me. It is a typical Gundam Seed character. You know the whole boy solder who is all great and all but has trouble in society and tries to be distant but ends up looking douchebagy.

http://i.imgur.com/SQrz6s2.jpg

All the other character seem cool and funny. The robot, who is in an AI in the mech, is actually a nice character. Feels very personal and not a typical robot who is emotionless. The main girl is the typical spunky girl with a pet. Caring, cute, and funny. I usually find it a real drag when this girl appears and hope that the main romance does not involve her, but rather the more mature, older, counterpart of her. She is in her too (the older, busty version of her that is). But this character does not feel like a drag. Maybe it is because she and the main character do not speak the same language. But she is rather delightful. Episode 2 is the the whole revelation that people are fingering out what he is and what he can do. At the end of the episode he destroys a pirate fleet and people are in awe. Then it ends. So episode three will be the aftermath and what the people think and introduce the enemy.

What really sets this anime apart from the rest is the setting. It's pretty much Waterworld. For those who have not seen it, it is about the whole earth being underwater and people are living on the ocean. They discover the cities that used to be and salvage what they can. Oh and there are pirates like the one is the anime.  The anime has high potential but also has the flop tag because of the two main characters. I would put this above Valvrave, just because it held my interest longer. But the second episode of Valvrave has yet to come out so we shall see how that goes. For now 8.5/10 is a good score here. Plenty of cool things only one real negative which is the main hero. But can change an open up.

Poll

I started to see what I I should post more about. Even if you just glance at the blog please fill it out! I would like to know what I should do MORE of. I like posting about anime, manga, and gunpla. But I do not know if I am doing any of those enough. Sooooo please participate in it =) and if there is something I can improve, which I know their are a lot of things, then tell me please!

Next Project

Since the Nu Gundam Ver Ka. is completed (Decals pending if I actually want to apply them), I knew a new model to start working on. I was thinking of going outside of Gundam, maybe towards Kotobukiya. I like their Metal Gear Solid Rex model, but I do not know if it would be wise since I am really liking painting, but I am not skilled to pull of neat designs that would fit Rex... yet. So I am thinking of doing another Gundam model. I just do not know which one. I have narrowed my choice down to three.
MG Zeta 2.0

MG Sinanju Stein

Or last but not least MG Jesta
http://gundamcentury.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/04/gundam-century-rifle-jesta-ready.jpg
I am leaning towards the Jesta, because the price should be less than the other two because it is a grunt suit. Or at least I hope so... but who knows. I think I will try to get the Zeta 2.0 soon and do a pink and orange paint scheme on it. But as for the Jesta I have no clue what I want to do at the moment. It will be released soon in Japan which means another extra week or two until it hits America. I want to airbrush some bold colors or maybe go a Zaku green scheme. It is a nice mobile suit design, very blocky with nice edges. So maybe mix up the blues and go coral and sky blue. If ya have any paint ideas say so in the comments!

Manhwa! Tower of God

So I have been transitioning away from manga and over to Manhwa, which is Korean online comics/manga. The reason for the change, and this is a personal opinion, is because I feel manga as a whole is going down the path of pervyness. Do not get me wrong, I enjoy a good harem with oppia girls every now and again. But I am starting to lose interest in it, where as before I loved it. I have known about Manhwa for a while. I will be adding certain Manhwa on here. Those I really enjoy and addicted too. But first some Manhwa info.
The pros of Manhwa, Manhwa is read right to left, in color, and usually are updated every week. The stories are usually very solid and art is dynamic but subtle. Negative. Sometimes takes a story FOREVER to get going. But once it gets going you are usually like "MORE I NEED MORE". I have a couple of Manhwa I want to tell ya guys about, but the one I will tell ya right now is called Tower of God by SIU.
This Manhwa is so good. I literally wasted (time well wasted) three, four days catching up on it. I would start in the morning and read periodically through the day until 2:00 A.M. The gist of the plot is that these guys are climbing a tower in order to fulfill a wish. The main character who goes by Twenty-Fifth  Baam (cool name if ya ask me) is climbing the tower to meet his friend who went into the tower in order to see the stars. The story just doesn't revolve around Baam though. It focuses on a plethora of characters. And while I would usually find that too distracting it works here. Though there are times where I am like "Get to BAAM already". I would defiantly recommend this to anyone.

Anime Alert! My Teen Romantic Comedy SNAFU

http://img1.ak.crunchyroll.com/i/spire3/9a5f45054da595d549a6dfb86842c5891365622645_full.jpg

I am working on trying to post more anime and review episodes. Whenever it is an anime the title will be "Anime Alert!" that way ya guys can see it and look or just skip to the Gunpla.by they way I am really bad at remembering the main characters names, I have been sick all week and my memory is shot.
Another new anime that premiered earlier this week, My Teen Romantic Comedy SNAFU is about this boy who is a rather creep recluse. He does not talk to anyone and when asked to reflect on his High-school experience he writes and smart ass response which forces the teacher to sen him to this club that helps students. There he meets this girl (the black haired one in the pic) who is almost like him. She is really pretty and gets picked on because other girls are jealous. The anime started off slow but has some sweet touring moments in it. I enjoyed the first episode but the the beginning almost pushed me away. The boy is too much of a recluse in the begging but opens up towards the end. I won't give anything away in here but will say if you like Comedy and Romance, with a hint of Slice of Life then check it out. I give it 7/10 but it has potential to be really entertaining.

Anime alert! Valvrave.

The new anime, called Valvrave the Liberator, premiered earlier this week. I watched the first episode and was really pleased with it.

The animation is nice to watch, although a little to cluttered when to action starts. The colors are nice and are rather eye catching when the fighting starts. The show pulled a Seed Destiny (I started to watch the first episode in the HD Remaster) and gave the hero a tragedy catalyst in order for him to be involved in the fight. And while I do not normally get attached to characters in early in an anime, I felt really sad for the main hero. I won't give away the whole episode,  but I will say this. The ending is what keeps this from being generic. Lets just say the hero becomes rather blood thirsty... screw it. I think he becomes a Vampire. Come on space vampire who pilots mech! If that is not a hook then I do not know what is! On to the mech design. The grunts were rather weird looking but not cool. Zakus, now those are grunts, they were cool looking, but these grunts were meh. The main Mech, Valvrave was kind of cool. I am digging the green loops and the Red Astray swords. The ending song promises some other cool mechs to be introduced. All in all I see potential in this anime and would give it a 8/10.  The only real problems were the first fight scene, which was too dark to really care for and the overload of colors, which I liked but got in the way.

Oh and I guess these will be getting plastic models too!

Nu Gundam Ver Ka is done!

Well the painting portion of it is. First some comments on the paint. I will right a full review later on the computer as I will able to place the pics accordingly.
The paint is nice in my opinion. I love the blue and silver combo and for the most part it is solid. There are some parts where I did not fully hit but you cannot see them. I ran out towards the end and you will see where later haha for now here is my model. The pick with the fin funnels on the back might be the only one you guys get. MAJOR PAIN IN THE ***! Anyways here ya go.
Decals go on this weekend.

Update on Painting

Weather has been bleh and school has been bleh as well. I should be able to paint the back pack today and finish the fin funnels Saturday. For now here is a pic of Nu.

Almost done!

I almost done =D the main body is all done and all that is left is the backpack and fin funnels. I loving the Mica Blue armor. The Primer is great and helps a lot. The spray paint is easy to use, but even though it looks great, it is not as fun to use as my airbrush. But it was nice to use something different. Pics should be up tomorrow =)

Gundam Breaker

So I am waiting for my paint to come and I was able to download a Beta for the upcoming Gundam game, called Gundam Breaker, off of the Japan PSN.
The game isn't about the Gundam Universe, but GunPla itself! I have played 7 hours of it and I must stay I am pleased. The camera (lock on) is crap at times, it switches all over the plays. But that is my only gripe. You start off in a GM but slowly get better parts from Mechs you defeat. The game sports an offline and online coop mode. If there is PVP then haven't hit the right button to get to it. The text is in Japanese but do not worry. There is a lot of English words and the controls are easy as 1,2,3... A,B,C... Baby you and me. Download it!
P.s I got the blogger all for my phone so expect a lot more posts :D and the paint I ordered is Mica Blue. Should look sweet with the silver accents. Post soon :)

Again...

Sorry I have no news =/ Midterms are over, but I am being handed essays left and right. Plus I have started to work out. No real time to paint. BUT this weekend I will actually have time to paint. So yay!
I already have another model in mind after Nu.
I am thinking Zeta 2.0, Strike Freedom, or Shining Gundam. I still have the Sinanju sitting in it's box, but I want more experience with painting because I am planning on a complete repaint of the kit. Maybe a duality color scheme?

Sorry

Sorry it has been long since my last post. School is getting very condensed with Midterms coming up and I just have not had time to do to much painting. But I on the plus side over a few week I have almost finished the NU. The Orange PsycoFrame look sweet and I painted all the parts that would normally be yellow, chrome. I still need to prime to main body pieces, because I want to paint it a lighter blue color. Maybe even gray. In other news, I have taken up playing soccer and I am sore >.<

Nu Gundam Update

I had a chance to paint my Nu, and after seeing Syd's from Gaijin-Gunpla.com, I really wanted to do the color split in the arm.
I did that all today, but did not paint the shoulder. Just did not feel like it =P On the right leg (your left) I wanted to try a half dark and half light. I like the way it looks. Just wanted to test something out I suppose. I took the head apart and painted the sensors blue, I did not care for the foil stickers. I am planning on painting the chin just not sure what color yet. And the PsyCom frame will be... Orange! I think it will look snazzy. The Dark body pieces I will be painting Arctic Blue- Metallic, unless I come across some other color I like. Kind of thinking purple would look cool. We will see. I probably will not be painting tomorrow because tomorrow is my birthday! And I will be out and about =) Plus I have a report due in history on Pual Revere's Ride. You want a boring book to read? Take that one. Never have I fallen asleep while reading but this book made me knock out twice! TWICE I TELL YOU. Well till my next post! Thoughts on it so far?
*Sorry for the low quality pics :'/ I need to invest in a camera or get a better phone with a nice camera.

Delayed Building

*Sigh* Another Week of no building. I have the Inner Frame done just need to paint it. But I need pick up more paint.  I build the beam rifle, and it looks okay. Need to paint the top part that is dark blue. Least next week is my Bday Woot!
I do not know what to get either =/ I kind of want a Zoid but they are pricey... also been looking at the Evangelion  models that look cool. We will see when the time comes. In the mean time I have papers to write.

WIP (Work In Progress) Nu Ver Ka.

This week has been a real drag, with school and crummy weather playing a big part. But with my Buster being done, I have moved on to the MG Nu Ver Ka. At first I did not have any plans at painting it, but then I saw the inner frame and how much was exposed, I saw the dark blue parts as well and so I decided to I have to do some light painting after all.
Let's Begin!
I would have added a shot of all the runners, but my table is being occupied by other things separate from my model.
I really like the head of the Nu, it is sleek and mean. The side vents and the three face vents are hollow and allow the inner frame portion of the head to add the color. The only panel lining I did was the frontward facing vents and the side grooves on the head. I also painted the Vulcan Cannons because they were a rather boring white the blended in with the head. Had they been an off white then I do not know if  I would still would painted them. Somethings to note; the V Fin, while awesome, feels brittle and very thin. Just be cautious with it. Color wise I love the black thing holding the V Fin down. But... hate the foil sensors that go behind the V Fin and on the under backside of the head.

The arms are what made me want to paint the inner frame. The circular part in the middle of the arm is exposed and just does not sit well with me. Like, it bugs the hell out of me for some irrational reason. But I digress. I like the arms in general. Nice, smooth movement. My beef with the arms, aside from the gray part, is in the hands and wrist. Dear Lord, I was raging on how bad I almost screwed up the hands.
Rage and Heart Palpitations
First off, the wrist part tends to come a little loose at times. I ended up breaking the apex point of the index finger on the left hand and the Ring Finger on the right =/ I do not know how I even did that! In terms of articulation, they move well ONCE you loosen the parts. I wanted to take out the Right Hand but ended up breaking(?) it. I do not have a pick for fear if I pull it out again I won't be so lucky the second time. The Ball joint in on the hand apparently is two parts, when I made a boo boo I pulled out the stem which goes into the ball joint. Lucky!
Ah the chest portion. It went together smoothly, feels really light. No negative comments thus far, I mean really? It is the bare chest. The PsyCom (?) frame is a little pain, just because of the foil stickers that go on the underside of it. They are "supposed" to add more a metallic reflection so the frame is easier to see once the armor is on... but honestly I do not see the big difference. I might paint the those parts in the future, if I settle on a color choice.
Waist part
For some reason, I liked these pics. Maybe in the future, as a project when I have cash to blow, I  will make a Nu Guntank.
The foot is nice. I am digging the ankle ball rotation. I want to paint to it a Black Chrome but do not know what I have to do in order to get that the effect. Anyone else know?

A shot of some of the leg *Wink Wink*. Those pistons are really nice, but again, they show and look rather plain unpainted. Leg movement in general is nice. Nothing bad to say yet, nothing wowing to say yet either. Solid legs.

Here is where I am at now. I will be needing to make a run to the store for thinner and paint, so painitng will have to wait. Until then I have been panel lining some of the weapons and armor pieces. Oh when I panel line I use a mechanical pencil. On white armor it looks nice and easy to smudge some shading on. Maybe I will do a page on how I do it and why I like it.
